المسؤولية الجنائية عن إساءة استخدام الحسابات الالکترونية في الجامعات السعودية
طبقا لما هو متبع في أنظمة  الخدمة المدنية والتعليم العالي في المملکة العربية السعودية فإن عضو هيئة التدريس يجب أن يتصف بالأمانة والخلق القويم ، وأن يلتزم بالأنظمة والتعليمات وقواعد السلوک والآداب المرعية، وأن يترفع عن کل ما هو مخل بشرف الوظيفة. کما يجب على الموظف العام حفظ الأمانة وعدم إفشاء أسرار الوظيفة. کما يجب على الطالب  احترام خصوصية الآخرين وعدم العبث بأوراقهم أو حواسيبهم، أو حساباتهم الالکترونية ،وکلمات السر الخاصة بهم .
وحماية للمراکز القانونية والحقوق الطلابية والأسرار الوظيفية من إساءة استخدامها بواسطة الحسابات الالکترونية من جانب منسوبي الجامعات نظم المشرع السعودي استخدام هذه الأخيرة في ضوء أحکام نظام مکافحة الجرائم المعلوماتية، أو نظام الخدمة المدنية ،أو دليل الحقوق والواجبات لطلاب وطالبات الجامعات السعودية ، أو اللائحة المنظمة لشؤون منسوبي الجامعات السعوديين، من أعضاء هيئة التدريس ومن في حکمهم.
وجريمة إساءة استخدام الحسابات الالکترونية جريمة عمدية يراد منها استخدامها على غير ما اعدت له من تسهيل وتيسير العمل الأکاديمي أو الإداري ،وما تتضمنه من أسرار وظيفية، أو حقوق الطلاب الأکاديمية سوآء کان ذلک بقصد التجسس ،أو تدمير المواقع ،أو اختراق المواقع الرسمية والشخصية، أو اختراق الأجهزة الشخصية، أو اختراق البريد الإلکتروني للآخرين أو الاستيلاء عليه أو اغراقه، أو الاستيلاء علي اشتراکات الآخرين وأرقامهم السرية وإرسال الفيروسات، أو غيرة مما يوجب المساءلة وتوقيع العقوبة التأديبية أو المدنية أو الجنائية ،وفق ما يترتب عليها من ضرر وآثار.
ومن منظور فقهي فإن الوظيفة العامة أمانة والتزام ،يجب الوفاء بها ،وفق ضوابط تحول بين الموظف العام وبين خيانة الأمانة ،أو انتهاک الخصوصية ،أو التشهير ، أو الازدراء بالوظيفة ،أو منسوبي العمل ،عملاً بواجب الأمانة في أداء العمل ،وأن الأمانة تمنع التقصير والخيانة.
